Bruce Isaacson was the first Poet Laureate of Clark County, Nevada. He is also publisher of Zeitgeist Press, with one hundred sixteen titles to date. His last book was before this Leningrad to Las Vegas. Bruce earned degrees at Claremont McKenna, Dartmouth, and Brooklyn College, where he submitted a thesis to noted American poet Allen Ginsberg. He has lived or worked in Mexico, Paris France, Leningrad Russia and Berkeley California. He is sometimes associated with the Cafe Babar reading, an open reading melee that was part of SF’s 1980s Spoken word resurgence. He is known in New York as a finalist in the inaugural Nuyorican Poetry Slam. He is a founder of Poetry Promise, Inc., a non-profit that provides poetry programs in Clark County.
